New Sculpture Represents Diversity

October 27, 2010

A new sculpture representing different ethnicities was donated to the university and unveiled earlier this month.  The 10,000-pound bronze sculpture, titled “Where Cultures Meet,” resembles the world with 10 life-size figures, five male and five female, from different ethnicities. The 12-foot sculpture took eight months to complete.

Bravery and Courage

Local artist Ben Victor calls one of his latest projects a labor of love.  The firefighter monument, which will be unveiled today at a f:15 p.m. dedication at Fire Station No. 2, not only took months to finish, but it’s something Victor, of Aberdeen, had a part in from day one.

Tribute To Be Semper Fi

November 10, 2007

A Marine takes a step, stops, looks over his shoulder and is immortalized in a moment in time in a bronze sculpture.  Artist Benjamin Victor was selected to design the Newport Beach memorial to the 1st Battalion, 1st Marines. His maquette, or small-scale model, was unveiled Friday at City Hall.
